CITYLIGHTS' first church picnic of 2015 was a great time of food, fellowship, and celebration. If you weren’t able to attend I have good news for you - We are having another one. On Sunday, June 28, we will gather once again at Cleveland Park, Shelter #30, from 12:15-3:00 pm. We will be going old-fashioned Potluck Style, so break out your favorite main dish, side dish, or dessert and join us!!

Our May picnic went from good to great as we celebrated seven of our CITYLIGHTS friends going public with their faith by being baptized. We were able to listen as each shared their unique journey of trusting Christ for their salvation and why they wanted to follow him in believers baptism.

One such person was Jennifer Watson, who shared with us the following:

“I grew up in a Christian home with parents who faithfully prayed for me and with me and who showed me what it looks like to be a follower of Christ. I was sprinkled as an infant and joined the church at a young age after telling my parents and the elders of my church that I believed I was a sinner who desperately needed Jesus to save me and make me more like Him.

I started attending CITYLIGHTS last September, and what really changed my mind about believer’s baptism was Mike’s sermon a few weeks ago. It was the first time anyone had explained the importance of believer’s baptism without making me feel like the last 20 years of my faith weren’t real.

Through that I came to understand the importance of this public symbol of faith. Jesus himself was baptized and commissioned us to do the same and I’m excited to take part in something that celebrates my relationship with my Savior and with all of my brothers and sisters in faith.”

Maybe you, too, have never been baptized and would like to do so. We would love to help you take this next step in your walk with Christ. Please go to http://citylights.cc and select the Next Steps tab to find the baptism link. This form will let us know of your interest and we will contact you soon.
